Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the world calendar.
How does the time zone selector change the calendar?
The calendar highlights today's date as it is right now in the time zone you choose. Around midnight, the date in Tokyo, London and Los Angeles can all be different, so pick a city's IANA time zone to see its current date.
What is an ISO week number?
ISO 8601 weeks start on Monday, and week 1 is the week that contains the first Thursday of the year. Some years have 53 weeks, and the first or last days of a year can belong to a week of the neighbouring year.
What is the Julian Day Number?
The Julian Day Number counts days continuously from 1 January 4713 BC, and it is used in astronomy and software. For example, 1 January 2000 is JDN 2451545. It is not the same as the Julian calendar.
Does the calendar show public holidays?
It shows a small set of common worldwide observances, such as New Year's Day, Christmas Day and Easter, but not country-specific public holidays, because these differ by country and year. Check an official source for your region.
Where are my events stored?
Events are saved in your browser's local storage on this device only, and nothing is uploaded. Use Export .ics to back them up or import them into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook.
Which dates are supported?
The calendar uses the Gregorian calendar and supports years 1583 to 9999, covering the period since its adoption.
